MEGANURSERY

Ofsted Registered Early Years & Childcare Setting with free places available

Welcome to Meganursery

Since we opened in 2003, Sheffield based childcare provider Meganursery has been at the heart of the city – providing high quality early years education and childcare for children aged 12 weeks to 5 years.

We know that your child’s early years are when they are learning the most and discovering the world around them and our passion is to support and care for each child as the amazing little champion they were born to be!

In our Ofsted Registered childcare setting, we have a dedicated baby unit complete with a cosy sleeping area, and rooms for our 1-2s, 3-4s, a pre-school area and our very own roof garden. Take a look around our website for more information or give us a call and book a visit to Meganursery. We’d love to meet you and your little one!

Meganursery Childcare Setting

Meganursery is open-plan and designed to offer a wonderful sense of space, light and most importantly community. Our children get to interact with each other whilst still having their own age-specific areas in which they can learn through play.

Our Rooms

Explorers Room

3 months to walking

Our Explorers room is calm, bright and stimulating – a space where we work to encourage our little Explorers’ development and where they are free to safely explore the environment and discover their world using all their senses. This room has its own quiet sleep area for nap time.

Adventurers and Discoverers Room

1-3 years

Our Adventurers and Discoverers rooms are designed to provide a bright and exciting environment perfect for your inquisitive child to play, learn and develop. These spaces have lots of different activities for your child to enjoy, from construction and small world play to a sand pit and a cosy corner where children can relax and look at books.

Our Adventurers and Discoverers love exploring the roof garden and when all the fun and learning gets a bit much there is a cosy area for nap time if you want your child to sleep.

PreSchool

3 – 4 years

Our Pre-school area is an exciting, fun and stimulating learning environment always buzzing with energy as the children begin their first steps to mainstream education. There are opportunities to learn at every turn, including early reading and maths skills, mark-making, and imaginative play, which are reinforced through what we call ‘purposeful play’. It is the perfect space for getting our little champions ready for school (after their pre-school graduation ceremony in the summer!)

Meganursery Meals

Our seasonal menus are nutritionally balanced and varied, which allows the children to experience a wide variety of flavours and textures. Our kitchen is regularly expected by the Food Standards Agency, where we have been praised for our high standards. We’re also proud to cater for children with special dietary needs including allergies, intolerances and cultural preferences. Mealtimes are a fun family experience for our children as they get to sit together as they learn independence and table skills, with our pre-schoolers helping the younger ones.

An example daily menu:

  • Breakfast: Cereal with milk, fresh orange or apple juice
  • Morning Snack: Breadsticks and houmous with apple slices
  • Lunch: Lasagna with garlic bread and broccoli. Yoghurt
  • Afternoon Snack: Carrot and courgette muffins with pears
  • Tea: Wholemeal ham sandwiches with peppers and tomatoes. Raisin and oat cookies

Our Learning & Play Strategy

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is how the Government and early years professionals describe the time in your child’s life between birth and age 5. This is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes.

Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.

Children should mostly develop the three prime areas first. These are:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

At Meganursery we use these seven areas to plan your child’s learning and activities, suited to each child’s unique needs and personality. Children learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside. Our wide range of activities at Meganursery helps our learners to absorb more all whilst having fun.

The nursery has a key-persons system in operation. Your child will be given a member of staff who will be responsible for the initial settling-in period, this will enable your child to form a bond with his/her key-persons helping their transition into Meganursery be a smooth, peaceful and happy one for you both!
