NEON YOUTH MENTORSHIP IN SCHOOLS 150 150 Colin Davies

We’ve been working on something that will change a generation!  That’s a BIG statement isn’t it?  But really if you were part of something that could literally change a generation wouldn’t you want to be a part if it?  No one could ever accuse us of thinking small but we know that changing a generation happens one person at a time.  Our Youth Mentorship programme is designed to provide direct and vital support for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are struggling to navigate life and often find themselves on the wrong side of authority figures.

Our aim from later this year is to take 50 young people through a programme which will help them to develop a better understanding of themselves and empower them to make better life choices.  Each young person will be matched with a mentor who will spend time with them weekly providing a listening ear and a safe place to discuss the fundamental stuff of life, the kind of stuff that can mean make or break for that young person.  Between the ages of 11 and 18 we make decision and form habits that will affect the rest of our lives.  Our aim through this programme is to step in and guide young people into making the right choices.  Choices than affect them and those in their world.

We are fundraising at the moment for the work and as part of this we are running a Crowdfunding campaign through Aviva Community Fund.  We’d love you to think about how you can support the fundraising campaign and help us to change lives for the better.  You can find our more and donate by going to http://bit.ly/neonmentoring.

We’ll also be looking for mentors.  Dedicated volunteers who share our passion for seeing young people thrive in every aspect of their lives.  You will be given the training for the role and can commit to mentoring one or more young people.  We expect it will take around 2 hours per week per young person.  If you’d like to express your interest in being a volunteer then drop us a line at info@hopecity.foundation.
